Nominator's project description
| Professor Chandrashekhar Khare is an internationally renowned researcher in number theory. His research has led to many foundational results on Galois representations and their link to automorphic forms. His most spectacular result has been his joint proof with Jean-Pierre Wintenberger of the modularity conjecture by Serre. This is a structural result which has deep impact on many number theoretic questions. During his stay in Germany, he intends to investigate aspects of higher dimensional analogs of the Serre conjecture, its implication to the Langlands program and possible applications to p-adic Galois representations. |
